Bay Path Women’s Tennis Shuts Out Mitchell

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's tennis team lost a conference match-up against Bay Path College by a 9-0 final on Saturday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Courts.

 

Both teams were playing their first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match of the season. Bay Path (4-1 overall, 1-0 NECC) got off to a good start by sweeping all three doubles points before taking every singles match in straight sets.

 

The duo of Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) and Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass./Sabis International Chapter) defeated Mitchell's Carly Paterson (Gales Ferry, Conn./Ledyard) and Julie Embley (Lawrenceville, N.J./Allentown) by an 8-2 final at the top doubles spot. Watson then topped Paterson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Morin blanked Embley 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.

 

Mitchell (0-3 overall, 0-1 NECC) will next play at Newbury College on Tuesday, September 18 at 4 p.m. Bay Path returns to action at home against Albertus Magnus College on Sunday, September 16 at 1 p.m.
