Wildcats Take Lynx 8-1 in Conference Action

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Bay Path College defeated New England Collegiate Conference for Lesley University 8-1 in women's tennis action Wednesday Night at the Nichols Athletics Center. The Wildcats are now 8-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while the host Lynx fall to 0-6 on the season and 0-4 in the NECC.

Junior Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) and her partner sophomore Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.) shut down the Lynx junior Katie Side (Miller Place, N.Y.) and junior Jillian Clarke (Old Tappan, N.J.) 8-0. Both Watson and Morin also won their #1 and #2 singles action.

The Lynx lone point came at the #2 doubles with sophomore duo of Emma True (Lee, N.H.) and Molly Phelps (Durham, N.H.) defeated junior Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.)  and Abigail Janneke (Waterbury Conn.) in a tough fought battle 8-7.
 

The Wildcat freshman dynamic duo of Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y) took down senior Hannah Phalen (Seattle,Wash.) and senior Aleena Naqvi (Islamabad, Pakistan) 8-2. This doubles victory makes the tandem 8-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Bay Path took all singles matches on the day. Walsh remained undefeated with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. Montoya won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, while Wood also won the No.5 singles 6-0, 6-1. Janneke rounded out Bay Path's singles winning 6-0, 6-2.

Bay Path hosts Newbury in more NECC action on Saturday, September 29th at noon, while Lesley hosts Becker at 11:00 a.m.
